Michael S. Alires assists clients in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors throughout formation and organizational development.  As a Nevada native, Mr. Alires went to law school with the intention of helping Nevada businesses and nonprofits flourish and focused his studies on issues affecting them.  He has helped clients form Nevada benefit corporations and achieve tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.  Mr. Alires has experience working with nonprofit Directors and Officers to best effectuate organizational goals.

Mr. Alires served under the Honorable Bruce. T. Beesley as a judicial extern in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Nevada.  He worked with the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’s Legal Department where he gained valuable insight on the affect of legal decisions upon business initiatives.  He also served in the inaugural class of the Boyd School of Law’s Small Business and Nonprofit Legal Clinic where he provided free representation to nonprofit organizations, small businesses and entrepreneurs in transactional matters.

Prior to joining Ballard Rawson, Mr. Alires served in the governmental, for-profit, and non-profit sectors.  He worked with the Clark County School District Demographics, Zoning, and GIS and Transportation Departments developing next-generation solutions through Geographic Information Systems.  Mr. Alires was a licensed insurance agent in Nevada for nearly four years.  Further, he served as a College and Young Adults Pastor for a local church.  Mr. Alires brings this varied experience in multiple sectors to the clients he serves.
