Richard A. Rawson's practice is focused on business and real estate transactions.  His diverse practice includes: asset and stock purchases; corporate and limited liability company formation and governance; commercial lending, including loan opinions; commercial acquisitions and dispositions of real property; leasing, including telecommunication leases; common-interest communities; easements; and mining claims, rights of way, and materials contracts on public lands.

Before co-founding Ballard Rawson, Chartered, Mr. Rawson was a Senior Associate at Jones Vargas, a prominent Nevada firm.  Prior to practicing law, Mr. Rawson was a financial systems consultant and responsible for the implementation of financial systems for Mission Research Corporation, Bechtel SAIC Company, and TRW Environmental Safety Systems.  Mr. Rawson uses his broad business experience to provide general counsel representation to for-profit and non-profit entities, including attending board meetings, interpreting and enforcing governing documents, as well as relevant state and federal laws, and reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.

While in law school, Mr. Rawson was awarded the CALI award in five subjects including Property II, Conflicts of Law, Real Estate Finance, Trial Advocacy and Water Law.  He also served as an articles editor for the Nevada Law Journal, in which his work "Water Law and its Role in Closing the Nuclear Fuel Cycle" was published.

Mr. Rawson holds a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the William S. Boyd School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, also from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Nevada and is a member of the Clark County and American Bar Associations.  Mr. Rawson also teaches a Legal Drafting course as an adjunct professor at the William S. Boyd School of Law.
